Pope Benedict XVI donates two ambulances to Lebanon’s Caritas Internationalis
(August 08,2006): - Pope Benedict XVI has donated two ambulances fully equipped with
first aid medical goods to Lebanon’s Caritas Internationalis. The United Nations
said that a cargo ship carrying the Pontiff’s donation is directed to Beirut
with a stop at Cyprus. The cargo ship “MV Anamcara” rented by World Food Program
– WFP, left from the Italian Port of Brindisi on Monday , 7th August. It is also
carrying food aid, including mineral water, plus three trucks, kitchen sets and prefabricated
goods. At the stop in Cyprus, the cargo ship will pick up more humanitarian aid.
It is scheduled to arrive in Beirut at the end of this week.Later, it will act as
a shuttle carrying humanitarian aid from Cyprus to Lebanon.
