Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, the Prefect of the Congregation for Evangelization, gave
encouragement to Catholic seminarians in Khartoum during a pastoral visit to Sudan,
the Fides news service reported. "The Church has much confidence in you, and if you
respond with generosity to the vocation of the Lord, you will be the principal authors
of the growth of the Church, notwithstanding the great challenges you will have to
face," the cardinal told students at St. Paul's seminary, which is marking its centenary
this year. Sudan is working hard to restore national peace, still threatened by pockets
of persisting violence after years of civil war.
