G-8 Expectations

(2 July 05 - RV) Pope Benedict has sent his good wishes to the Make Poverty History rally taking place in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Saturday. The event is a prelude to Wednesday's G-8 Summit in Gleneagles.
In a telegram, the Secretary of State, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, said the Holy Father is "praying for the participants of the rally, and the world leaders soon to gather in Gleneagles, that they may all play their part in ensuring a more just distribution of the world's goods."
The event is being led by both of Britain's Cardinals: Keith Patrick Cardinal O'Brien of Edinburgh and Cormac Cardinal Murphy O'Conner of Westminster. The latter told us his expectations for the G-8 meeting.
